NSS Special Camp 2022

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Society of Loreto College organized its annual Special Camp from November 19–25, 2022 in the Gol Talab slum area of Taltala. The principal objectives of the camp were to socialize with the underprivileged children of the area and to spread awareness on the importance of education, health, cleanliness, and co-curricular activities. The volunteers of NSS Society prepared simple charts to teach the children basic English and mathematics in an engaging manner. Activities such as drawing, origami, physical training, and yoga were conducted to add interest and variety to the programme. Other events included a Dengue-Malaria Awareness Drive, a Cleanliness Drive, and a free eye-checkup session in collaboration with Drishti Eye Care Centre for the women and children of the area. The volunteers also used systematic data collection methods to understand the living conditions and environment of the locality. The 70-80 children who participated in the camp were regularly provided with refreshments and treats. They displayed great zeal for learning and were able to form strong bonds with the volunteers over the course of their daily interactions.
