Memorial Service for Shreela Roy

The memorial for the late Shreela Roy, former Head, Department of History, Loreto College, Kolkata was observed on April 5, 2022 in the College Concert Hall. Mrs Shreela Roy sadly passed away on March 15 after a prolonged illness. Mrs Roy joined the Department of History in 1970, became Head of the Department in 1988 and held the post for almost eighteen years till 2004, retiring in 2006. The memorial commenced with the Principal, Sr. Dr Christine Coutinho’s tribute to Mrs Roy, followed by the hymn Eternal Rest, and a multi-faith Prayer Service. The service comprised reminiscences by her former colleagues Mrs Tapati Sengupta, Dr Mridula Kapoor, her former student and colleague in the Department, Ms Anuradha Chatterji and her past pupil and currently a faculty member of the Department, Dr Sukanya Mitra. The programme concluded with the hymn Abide with Me. The memorial was attended by our Mother Superior, Sr. Agnes Bhutia, the family members of Mrs Roy, former teachers who were her colleagues and close friends, present teachers and former and current students.
