WebTalk on The Beacon Beckons: Steering Graduates to a Career in Civil Services

The Department of Economics in collaboration with IQAC organized a Web Talk on The Beacon Beckons: Steering Graduates to a Career in Civil Services on November 20, 2021 at 4 p.m. The resource person for the Web Talk was Prof. Subir Maitra, Registrar of Rabindra Bharati University. This initiative by the department was to enkindle the young minds with high ideals of altruism and social service and inspire them to become true statesmen of the future. Through this talk students were able to understand the relevance of civil service, which essentially involves the formulation of public policy and its effective implementation, notwithstanding socio-political hindrances. Prof. Maitra initiated his discussion by stating the history of civil service examinations. He discussed in detail the prerequisites for the civil service examinations, categories of civil service, syllabus and the different papers for preliminary and main examinations along with the types of questions and marks divisions. The session was very informative, highly enriching and helped foster a professional outlook among the students.
