Manju Dasgupta Memorial Lecture

Ms Siya Mukherjee, an alumna of the History Department of Loreto College addressed the students to mark the inaugural session of the Manju Das Gupta Memorial Lecture on November 16, 2021. Mrs Manju Das Gupta, a former teacher of the Department of History of the College was a gold medalist in History but had embarked on a career outside academics while never giving up her quest towards deeper Historical knowledge and critical perceptions. She is respected for her versatility excelling in myriad activities and dedicating her life to the amelioration of underprivileged women and women affected by violence. Ms Mukherjee explained how studying History has shaped her analytical ability and helped her broaden her horizons. Her learning of History supported her progress towards Ernst & Young and provided succour to marginalized women. She urged students to move beyond a textbook reading of History.
