Web Talk for Students Dis-ABILITY: Nothing is Impossible

The Department of Education organized a Web Talk for Students ‘Dis-ABILITY: Nothing is Impossible in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Loreto College and in collaboration with Sruti disAbility Rights Centre, Kolkata on January 18, 2021 from 3.30 p.m. IST onwards. The platform for the Talk was Google Meet. The audience comprised of students from the Departments of Education and B.Ed Semester IV, Loreto College, Kolkata.

The very essence of Talk was to highlight the Achievements of persons with disabilities. The Resource Persons for the Talk were Ms. Shampa Sengupta Founder of Sruti disABILITY Rights Centre Kolkata and Joint Secretary of National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled, Dr. Bubai Bag, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Bagnan College, Howrah, Ms. Soumita Basu, Founder, Zyenika (Adaptive clothing for persons with disabilities) and Mr. Md Asif Iqbal, Associate Director, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Private limited.

The Moderator for the Webinar was Ms. Shampa Sengupta. The resources persons through their deliberations facilitated participants to acquire an understanding that discourses on disability need not always focus on the plight of persons with disabilities but rather should aim to highlight their achievements and celebrate diversity or difference The students from Semester V of the Education Department paid tribute to all achievers with disabilities through a detailed Powerpoint The Coordinator for the Webinar were Dr. Ranjita Dawn, Head, Department of Education. The Webinar was attended by and received active participation of students from the Departments of Education and B.Ed.
