Heritage Course 2020

The Department of History successfully organized the annual Heritage Course between February 11 and 27, 2020. The broad theme of the course was Intangible Cultural Heritage. About 95 students from various disciplines participated in the course this year. The course included talks given by cultural practitioners as well as two workshops and two site-visits. The first workshop was conducted on February 13 by Ms. Shinjita Roy who explained site-specific performance to the students using the space of the college. The second workshop on February 19 was conducted by Ms. Mallika Haldar who taught the students how to make flowers using shola or thermocol. The students were taken to an exhibition titled, “Chitpur: Urbanity and Occupations” at the Park Mansions on February 14. The second visit was to the Old Currency Building in Dalhousie Square where the students saw an art exhibition titled, “Ghare-Baire: The World, The Home and Beyond, 18th to 20th century Art in Bengal”. The students were asked to submit a project report at the end.
