Memorial Service for Mrs.Eva Dasgupta

The memorial service for late Mrs. Eva Dasgupta, former Head, Department of Education, Loreto College, Kolkata was observed on February 28, 2023 in the Loreto College Auditorium. Mrs. Dasgupta passed away on December 30, 2022 after prolonged illness. Mrs. Eva Dasgupta joined the Department of Education in 1962, became Head of the Department and continued in service till 1995. The memorial commenced with a multi-faith Prayer Service, followed by a tribute to Mrs. Dasgupta by the Principal, Sr Dr Christine Coutinho. This was followed by Dr Neeta Dang sharing a brief introduction about Mrs. Dasgupta’s life and a PowerPoint presentation highlighting her life events. The service comprised reminiscences by her former colleagues and students Dr Arundhati Ray, Dr Veena Poddar, Dr Mridula Kapoor, Dr Ranjana Banerjee and Dr Debika Guha. The programme concluded with Sr Dr Christine Coutinho and Dr Ranjita Dawn, Head, Department of Education presenting a collage of pictures to Dr Sumona Dasgupta and Dr Sukanya Dasgupta, daughters of Mrs. Eva Dasgupta. The memorial was attended by Sr Marilla D’Souza, the family members of Mrs. Dasgupta, former teachers who were her colleagues and close friends, present teachers and current students.
