Mary Ward Assembly

COMMEMORATING THE LIFE OF MARY WARD

The first year undergraduate students of the College and students of the Department of B.Ed conducted special assemblies on January 30 and 31, 2023 respectively to commemorate the life and contributions of Mary Ward, foundress of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM). The events were held on the occasion of Mary Ward Week (23–30 January), which is celebrated worldwide by the Loreto community to pay tribute to the foundress.
The undergraduate assembly commenced with an address to the audience which was followed by enactments of snippets from the life of Mary Ward, highlighting her rich legacy in the field of women’s education. The performance was enlivened by the graceful performance of the choir. The B.Ed programme comprised of two short acts, performed by the students based on the maxims of Mary Ward- “Forgive your enemies cordially and pray for them heartily” and “Be merry and doubt not your master”. Both events concluded with a special prayer service in honour of Mary Ward. The presentations served as a powerful reminder of the vision and values that Mary Ward embodied, which continue to inspire and empower the Loreto community.
