Wildlife Awareness Rally

The members of the W.E. Nature Society and some of the postgraduate students of Loreto College participated in the Wildlife Awareness Rally (WAR) organised by the NGO Anubhab on November 13, 2022. The rally began from a venue adjacent to Asutosh College at 11 a.m. and ended near Priya Cinema Hall at 12 p.m. Many colleges and schools participated in this event.

The objective of the rally was to raise awareness about endangered wildlife species among the students and citizens of Kolkata and to encourage them to go green to protect our wildlife and their habitats from environmental threats. The students of Loreto College prepared a banner for the rally based on an earlier banner competition that was won by Aditi Roy and Aheli Chakraborty (Geography Department) and Aishi Sarkar (Economics Department). They also displayed posters urging the spectators to be the “voice for the voiceless” and to care for all creatures—big and small. At the end of the march, the students enthusiastically took part in poster and essay competitions on wildlife conservation. The rally proved to be an enriching consciousness-raising experience for all the participants.
