Teachers’ Day Celebration

Teachers’ Day at Loreto College-‘You Have Touched Us and We Have Grown’

5th September, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated as Teachers’ Day in Loreto College Kolkata, through a special programme to honour this legendary philosopher and teacher and the teachers of the college. Commencing with a prayer service by the AICUF society, the teachers and 8 Silver Jubilarian staff members were felicitated on stage amidst a thunderous round of applause.

A panorama of dances and songs presented by the students in appreciation of the teachers were the highlights of this year’s Teachers’ Day. All the performances were synonymous of the spirit of the event-’You have touched us and we have grown’. A beautiful prayer solo dance set the mood for the morning. It was followed by a reflective power point presentation on how teachers make a difference to the students of the College, this comprising picture of teachers taken over the past 2 years. Dance performances ‘Iktara’, ‘Don’t You Worry Child’,"Nagada Sang DholBaje" interspersed with songs-‘The Climb’ and a presentation of Tagore’s‘Boro Asha Kore Eseche Go’ on the keyboard entertained the teachers and the audience of students. Songs by the Western Cultural Society and the Eastern Cultural Societyand a medley of delightful dances set to meaningful songs depicting the influence of teachers on ‘growth’ and gratitude marked the close of the programme. Truly enjoyable, the programme was all about wonderful moments, mirth and goodness.
