Special Session on Internship Modalities, CCF 2022

On September 30, 2024, the Internship Committee of Loreto College, Kolkata conducted a special session on the Modalities of Internships under the Curriculum & Credit Framework (CCF) 2022, as prescribed by the University of Calcutta. The session aimed to help students understand the process of undertaking internships and gaining relevant work experience, which is a crucial component of their graduation requirements under the CCF.

The session highlighted the significance of internships, which have been allocated 3 credits (75 marks) under the CCF framework, and which must necessarily be completed by Semester 2/4/6. Students were provided with detailed information on the formalities and expectations regarding internships, including the duration and structure. Internships would span a minimum of 15 days, with students required to intern for a total of 60 hours. The programme would also have a viva voce component with external evaluators.

The interdisciplinary nature of the internship was emphasised, with students being encouraged to explore areas outside their specific disciplines or undertake community engagement and field study. Additionally, students were advised to inform the college administration before committing to any internship to ensure their safety and institutional support. They were introduced to the designated internship coordinators of each department who would closely interact with them and guide them throughout the internship process.

The session was well-attended by students of Semester I and III. An interactive session was held at the end, providing students the opportunity to clarify their doubts regarding the internship modalities and gain a clear understanding of their responsibilities. The session proved to be highly informative, effectively preparing students to navigate the internship process with confidence.
