Anti-Ragging Awareness Session for UG Semester 2 Students

The Anti-Ragging Cell of Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised an Anti-Ragging Awareness Session for all undergraduate Semester 2 students on August 2, 2024. The session was conducted by Dr. Krishnokoli Hazra, Dr. Sanghita Sanyal, and Ms. Sulagna Chattopadhyay of the Anti-Ragging Cell. The session aimed to acquaint the students with the definitions and consequences of ragging as well as with the existing redressal mechanisms in the institution. A presentation on the theme “Silence is golden, but not when it hurts you” explained why ragging is considered a criminal offence in the educational sector.

A declaration form, mandated by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, was distributed to all the students, with the instruction that the forms were to be signed by them and their guardians as a record of their commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment within the college campus. Students were introduced to the members of the Anti-Ragging Squad, including three faculty members, the college counsellor, the Student Council heads, and the class representatives of every department. They were also provided with a helpline number and an email ID that would enable them to contact the Anti-Ragging Cell to report their complaints and concerns.
