Back to Green 2024

Under the guidance of Father John Rogers, the Leadership Training Service (LTS) Society of Loreto College, Kolkata successfully organised “Back to Green: The LTS World Forest Week” on July 14 and July 20, 2024. This initiative, aligned with the UN’s Forest Week (14th–20th July, 2024), aimed to foster leadership skills and raise environmental awareness among students.

The event, held in two parts, brought together participants from Loreto College, Shri Shikshayatan College, Don Bosco School Park Circus, Loreto Day School Elliot Road, Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Loreto Day School Bowbazar, and Loreto Convent Entally. The opening ceremony on July 14 focused on introducing participants to the event’s theme. Subsequently, students began meticulous preparations for the closing ceremony on July 20, both as participants and as organising committee members with distinct portfolios.

Key activities included an engaging interactive session, a self-introduction round, discussions on environmental topics, and a plantation activity. Students planted saplings in groups, discussed conservation themes, and shared their insights, enhancing their understanding of environmental issues and soft skills. The enthusiastic participation of the students was a testament to the event’s success.
