Basanta Utsav

The Eastern Cultural Society of Loreto College, Kolkata celebrated the vibrant Spring festival, Basanta Utsav, on April 1, 2024 in the college quadrangle. The event was attended by the undergraduate, postgraduate, and B.Ed. students of the college. It was a delightful blend of songs, dance, and drama, showcasing the cultural richness of the season.

The programme featured a scripted performance that depicted an aging king disheartened by his greying hair. The plot revolved around the efforts of a group of young boys to cheer up the king through the celebration of Spring. Songs such as “Ami Pothbhola Ek Pothik Eshechhi” and “Orey Grihabashi” were among the many captivating melodies sung by students that enlivened the programme. Members of the college faculty and staff also participated in the celebrations, demonstrating the power of art to foster connection and joy.
