Staff Development Seminar on NEP 2020

A Staff Development Seminar was conducted on May 10, 2024, at Loreto College, Kolkata, with Mr. Debashis Biswas, Inspector of Colleges, University of Calcutta, as the esteemed resource person. The seminar focused on two pivotal aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: the Choice-Based Credit Framework (CCF) and Internships.

In the first session, Mr. Biswas engaged the faculty in a comprehensive discussion on the CCF. He elaborated on the need for flexibility and a multidisciplinary approach in higher education, highlighting how the CCF empowers students to tailor their educational experiences to better suit their career goals and personal interests. Mr. Biswas emphasised the importance of a learner-centric education system that aligns with global standards while preserving the core values of Indian education.

The second session centred around the significance of internships in enhancing the employability and practical skills of students. Mr. Biswas discussed the integration of internships into the curriculum as a crucial element of the NEP, with the aim of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. He shared insights on effective strategies for establishing partnerships with industry and other stakeholders to facilitate meaningful internship opportunities for students.

Throughout the seminar, Mr. Biswas addressed numerous queries from the faculty, providing clarity and actionable guidance on various aspects of NEP implementation. He offered valuable suggestions on how Loreto College can effectively navigate the changes brought by the new policy. The stimulating discussions inspired the faculty to embrace the challenges and opportunities presented by the NEP.
