The motto of her organization is to empower rural women from low income groups to help them carve out an independent financial stability for themselves. The programme concluded with the students of Loreto College Literary Society putting up a poignant performance on the Nirbhaya rape case which shook the collective conscience of the Indians on a dark night in December 2012. This performance included an emotional poem by Subodh Sarkar called ‘Damini’ on Nirbhaya and the sufferings of her family. The recitation was supported with students enacting the case of roadside hecklers and the subsequent harassment faced by women. The tableau by the students was a display of the empowered women in Indian society from pre-independence era to modern times. The programme was much appreciated by all.
