The History Department in collaboration with the History Society had organized an inter-college academic student meet Historia on January 22, 2020.. The Keynote Speaker of the meet was Prof. Suranjan Das, Vice Chancellor, Jadavpur University. Prof. Arun Bandopadhyay of Calcutta University chaired the session. This was followed by an inter-college paper presentation on Gandhi’s Ideas on Nationhood presided over and judged by Dr. Sutapa Das Gupta, Department of History, St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College, Kolkata. Ms. Avdhija Gupta of Third Year History Honours secured the first position while Srijani Das of Lady Brabourne College received the second prize. The third session comprised a debate with the motion Gandhian Methods of Political Mobilization are irrelevant in the 21st century which was moderated by Mrs. Tapati Sengupta, Former Professor, Department of History, Loreto College, Kolkata. The debate was judged by three eminent debaters of the city—Ms. Supriya Newar, Dr Sarvani Gooptu and Mr. Shankar Ramalingam. Loreto College came first while Shri Shikshayatan College came second.
