Workshop on Research Methodology in Education for Semester V Students
The Research Cell of Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Department of Education, organised a session on Research Methodology for Semester V students of Education on September 30, 2024. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Lalit Lalitav Mohakud, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The session aimed to enlighten students about the essentials of research paper writing and the overall meaning of conducting research.
Dr. Mohakud enthusiastically guided participants through the standard format of a research paper, emphasising its critical components such as the introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion. He highlighted the benefits of engaging in research, including enhanced critical thinking skills, contribution to knowledge, and improved career prospects. Additionally, the session covered various platforms and journals where students could publish their work, underscoring the importance of disseminating findings to a broader audience. By encouraging critical engagement and providing practical skills for effective research, students were equipped to tackle common challenges in the research process with confidence.
The outcome of this session was that students gained a clear understanding of what research entails and its significance in academia and beyond. Participants acquired practical skills in structuring and writing research papers. Students felt inspired to engage in research activities and became aware of potential publication opportunities for their research. They also learned strategies to overcome common obstacles in conducting research, boosting their confidence in future endeavours.
