August Book Club 2024

On August 8, 2024, the Library Society of Loreto College, Kolkata hosted a special Book Club session titled “The Unsung Stories of Independence” to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle. The event saw the participation of eight students from different departments.

The students were encouraged to research and present stories of lesser known freedom fighters, an exercise that enabled them to uncover rare and forgotten narratives that highlighted the bravery, determination, and sacrifices behind India’s quest for independence. The session provided a platform for sharing these important yet overlooked histories, ensuring that the legacies of these unsung warriors were acknowledged and remembered. The event concluded with book suggestions for further exploration, such as Midnight’s Children and Train to Pakistan.
