Workshop on Research Methodology for Semester III Students of Education
On January 13, 2025, the Semester III students of the Department of Education attended an insightful workshop on Research Methodology at Loreto College, Kolkata. The session was led by Professor Aditya Das, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce at Raghunathpur College and visiting faculty at the University of Calcutta in the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies.
Professor Das began by explaining the concept of research and its significance in academic and practical contexts. He elaborated on the various types of research, offering a clear distinction between them. A comprehensive presentation was then shared, focusing on "Ideas to Insights" and essential research methods crucial for dissertations. One of the key highlights of the workshop was the detailed discussion on the structure of a thesis and research papers. Professor Das provided practical examples, which made the learning process engaging and easy to grasp. The session also covered different classifications of research and their respective methodologies.
Throughout the workshop, students were encouraged to ask questions, and Professor Das took great care in addressing all queries, ensuring a clear understanding for everyone. The session proved to be extremely beneficial, as research methodology is an integral part of the curriculum. The students of the Department of Education expressed their gratitude for this enriching experience and expressed interest in attending similar workshops in the future. The workshop successfully enhanced students' understanding of research methodology, equipped them with essential tools for academic research, and fostered a deeper interest in the subject.
