Session on Research Methodology for Semester III Students of History

The Research Cell of Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Department of History, hosted a session on Research Methodology for Semester III History Major students on January 10, 2025. The session was conducted by Dr. Shrimoyee Guha Thakurta, Associate Professor, Department of History, Scottish Church College, Kolkata.

The session delved into various aspects of historical research, including a discussion of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources; formulation of the hypothesis; research design; literature review; and historical analysis. It also explored methods of compressing broad research problems into focused research questions using hypotheses derived from the literature review. The session provided valuable insights into research methodology and was of immense benefit to the students.
