Please Read this sheet carefully before filling in the Application Form. This sheet is to be retained by the applicant for reference.
B.A., B.Sc. / M.A. , M.Sc. Degree of a UGC-recognised University with three subjects and an Indian language (or another Language subject in lieu thereof) With 50% in the aggregate. The Applicant should have Studied at the degree / Post Graduate level, the school teaching subject for which she is opting.
Compulsory language is not usually an adequate qualification for language teaching. At least 300 marks in Elective or Honours level/Post-Graduation level 'language' is needed.
Applicants holding a degree from UGC-recognized Universities other than those under the West Bengal Directorate must obtain an Eligibility certificate / letter from Calcutta University and the Migration Certificate from their respective Universities before admission. Applicants from any UGC-recognized University within West Bengal other than Calcutta University require a Migration Certificate without which admission will not be granted.
Deputed teachers teaching classes V - XII from recognised schools may apply.Relevant documents to be submitted by deputed teachers with the application form are as follows:
(1) Approval letter of concerned District Inspector of School / President of the Managing Committee of Private Schools
(2) Appointment letter,
(3) Joining letter in school,
(4) Managing Committee Resolution copy countersigned by the D.I. (if approved) / President of the Managing Committee of Private Schools (if approved)
(5) Released order from school duly signed by the Head Master/Secretary/Administrator/ will be submitted at the time of admission.
The Prospectus and Admission Form will be available to those selected for admission after the interview.
ANY one of the following :
Hindi , Bengali, English, History, Geography, Economics with an aggregate of 50% for candidates belonging to General Category, at the B.A.,B.Sc. /M.A., M.Sc. degree level.
Fluency and accuracy in English - as Teaching Practice is done only in English medium schools.
The medium of instruction in Loreto College is English.
Punctuality, regularity in attendance and a sense of responsibility and commitment are essential.
The B.Ed. course is a strenuous one. It comprises 4 Semesters over 2 years.
Caution Money will be returned to candidates who complete the B.Ed. Course in Loreto College.
Anyone who does not intend to complete the course should not join, as this deprives another applicant of the opportunity to train.
Required attendance as per Calcutta University regulations and passing in the College Selection Examination are necessary conditions for candidates to be presented for University Examinations.
A duration of Community Service is compulsory.
Admissions will be made on merit, based on the total score obtained from Secondary, H.S., Graduation and Post-Graduation, offline written tests and interviews.

There are few seats available in the College Hostel for Catholic students only.
Hostels are also available within a 2 km radius of the College.
The maximum number of seats in Loreto College for the B.Ed course (2023-2025) is 50.
