SPICMACAY, or the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, aims to conserve and promote an awareness of the rich cultural tapestry of India. It focuses on the classical arts and facilitates an appreciation of their deeper values through activities such as lecture demonstrations and ’baithaks’, at which informal interaction between the artistes and students are encouraged. SPICMACAY is a voluntary movement located in educational institutions throughout the country. Loreto College SPICMACAY members have been privileged to participate in events such as ’VIRASAT’ - a week-long festival held simultaneously in different institutions, comprising performances and workshops in classical art, folk art, literature, crafts, theatre, etc. Members have also attended State and National level conventions of SPICMACAY.
