Ms. Ruchi Singh, a former student of our college and a victim of domestic violence herself, wanted to educate us on the various kinds of domestic violence a woman might be subjected to. Ms. Singh a reputed motivational speaker talked about empowering women and suggested that education would help women get out of a difficult situation as they could be financially independent if they wished to be. She talked about empathy towards victims of violence and stated that under no circumstances should the victim be blamed. Here she quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr who said "in the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends". Finally she emphasized that the students must realize how fortunate they were to be there because a lot of girls do not even survive to adulthood.

We were much inspired by her lecture and there was an engaging interactive session. Ms. Singh educated us on what one should do if they are abused after marriage in countries far away from their homes. It was an enlightening session for us!
