Blood Donation Camp
Year after year, the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors has been coming to Loreto College and helping the students conduct a Blood Donation Camp. This year was no exception. The members of the organisation, in collaboration with the Social Service Society of the college, set up the camp on the 20th of September, 2016. The camp was open from 10:30 am onwards to all those students and teachers willing to donate blood.
Every donor was first asked to get her/himself checked by the doctors present to ensure that the minimum eligibility criteria were met. Then, the donor had to donate a fixed amount of blood after having 2 glasses of water. Every donor was assisted by a group of enthusiastic students who volunteered to provide refreshments to donors and also ensured the smooth functioning of the camp. Our Principal, Sister Christine Coutinho, was also one of the donors who have always been contributing to this noble cause.
A total of eighty people donated blood on the day. The camp ended at around 2:30pm on a successful note after a hard day’s work by the doctors and the society members.
