The department organizes special lectures in Elective Hindi to broaden the students’ horizon on the writings of some eminent writers from an interdisciplinary perspective. Lectures on Mahadevi Verma, Premchand, Amrilal Bengar, Hazariprasad Dwivedi, Nagarjun, Parsai enable an understanding on social crises of India.
Group discussions are held in class to provide students a scope to share their ideas about literature and contemporary social issues. The students have presented their thoughts and reflections on ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan’ and ‘Dhumketu. Annual-wall magazines on themes Badalte Najariye, Agyey Ko Shradhanjali and Mahadevi Ki Chintayon Me Stri have been prepared by students.
The annual Nirmal Sharma award is for the student of the college who secures highest marks in Part II Exam of Calcutta University.
